From the first pitch to the final bottle, BrewNote keeps every detail in reach.
Track every batch
Current, past, and archived brews live in one list. Swipe to archive, tap to open — see status at a glance.
Build or import recipes
Write up reusable recipes by hand, or share a link from any recipe site — or snap a photo of a printed one — straight into BrewNote.
Log readings, see trends
Record hydrometer or refractometer readings over time. Add a couple and a gravity chart appears automatically.
Calculate ABV instantly
Works from OG/FG hydrometer readings or a refractometer Brix reading with an adjustable correction factor — no brew required.
Keep tasting notes
Capture freeform notes, temperature logs, and dated entries for every brew so nothing about the batch gets lost.
Private by design
Everything stays on your device — no account, no server. Back up to a zip file whenever you'd like, on your terms.
How to track a homebrew batch with BrewNote
Four steps from brew day to bottle.
Start a batch
Pick the beverage type — beer, mead, cider, wine, or kombucha — and start from your own recipe or one imported from a link or photo.
Log gravity readings
Add hydrometer or refractometer readings as fermentation progresses. A gravity chart appears once you have a couple of entries.
Check ABV and take notes
Calculate ABV from OG/FG or Brix, and record temperatures, dated entries, and tasting notes along the way.
Archive and back up
Swipe finished brews into the archive and export everything to a zip file whenever you want a backup.
Your brew log stays yours
BrewNote is built to work entirely offline, so your recipes and notes stay on your device.
No account, ever
Open the app and start brewing. There is no sign-up screen standing between you and your notes.
On-device recipe import
Photos and shared links are read by a small on-device model — your recipes never have to leave your phone to get parsed.
Your data, your backup
Export everything to a zip file whenever you want, and import it again on a new phone. No lock-in, no cloud sync required.
Learn as you brew
Practical help for tracking gravity and estimating ABV — useful whether or not you use the app.
Frequently asked questions
What is BrewNote?
BrewNote is a free homebrewing and fermentation tracker app for Android, for people who make beer, mead, cider, wine, or kombucha at home. It keeps a log of every batch, with recipes, gravity readings, ABV, reminders, and tasting notes. It works entirely offline, needs no account, and keeps all data on your device.
What can I brew with BrewNote?
BrewNote supports beer, mead, cider, wine, and kombucha. Each batch is tagged with its drink, which picks the matching ABV formula: the standard formula for beer and kombucha, and a high-gravity formula for mead, cider, and wine.
I make mead, cider, wine, or kombucha, not beer. Is BrewNote for me?
Yes. Most brewing apps are built around beer, but BrewNote treats mead, cider, wine, and kombucha as drinks of their own. Log honey and nutrient additions for a mead, juice for a cider, a wine kit’s schedule, or F1 and F2 dates for kombucha, and set reminders for each step.
Can BrewNote remind me when to rack, add nutrients, or bottle?
Yes. Add reminders to any batch, such as a nutrient addition, a gravity check, racking, dry hopping, or bottling day. BrewNote sends a notification and can also add the reminder to your calendar.
Is BrewNote free?
Yes. BrewNote is free to download on Google Play for Android.
Does BrewNote work offline or require an account?
BrewNote works entirely offline and never requires an account or sign-up. Recipes, readings, and notes are stored only on your phone, with no server or cloud sync.
How do I calculate ABV in BrewNote?
Open the ABV calculator and enter your original gravity (OG) and final gravity (FG) from a hydrometer, or a refractometer Brix reading with an adjustable correction factor. The calculator works on its own, so you don't need to create a brew first.
Can BrewNote track fermentation with a hydrometer or refractometer?
Yes. Log hydrometer or refractometer gravity readings over time for any batch. Once you add a couple of readings, BrewNote draws a gravity chart automatically so you can see how fermentation is progressing.
Can I import recipes from websites or photos?
Yes. Share a link from a recipe website or take a photo of a printed recipe and BrewNote imports it. Parsing runs on a small on-device model, so the recipe never has to leave your phone.
How do I back up or move my BrewNote data to a new phone?
Export everything to a zip file from within the app, then import that zip on your new phone. There is no lock-in and no cloud account involved.
Is BrewNote available on iPhone?
BrewNote is currently available for Android on Google Play.
Is this the same as other products called BrewNote?
No. This BrewNote is the homebrewing companion app for Android (Google Play ID com.brewnote.brewnote). It is not related to AI note-taking tools, coffee services, or other products that share the name.
